Thank you for applying to the Aspen Young Leaders Fellowship (AYLF). Each year, a cohort of up to 30 fellows from each of our fellowship locations are selected to engage in 10 months of intensive training that includes monthly seminars, a paid internship, and a community impact project, followed by 4 additional years of targeted support for degree completion, career development, and workforce placement.

We are currently accepting applications and will interview candidates on a rolling basis, closing the process once a cohort is filled. We strongly encourage you to give yourself enough time to complete the entire application. This will include the following:

  • Update and upload your resume (Need help with your resume? Email us!)

  • Review all information and questions before you submit your responses

  • Obtain optional recommendation letters

  • All candidates can submit either written (250-word responses) or video responses to the application questions.

There is an option to save your progress and return any time before the final application deadline. You can access this feature at the top of the application. We strongly recommend that you prepare your responses in a separate document and then transfer your answers into the application, completing the process in one sitting.

Please contact us at aylf@aspeninstitute.org if you have any questions.

AYLF Cohort Eligibility

We engage candidates that are first- and second-year college students between the ages of 18-22. We also engage candidates for AYLF that are juniors, seniors, vocational/trade and youth not currently enrolled in school ages 18-22. Candidates who are creative, curious, resilient, and have demonstrated an interest in civic transformation and social responsibility, are our ideal candidate. AYLF emphasizes talent and potential. As such, grades are not evaluated as a factor for acceptance.

The Aspen Young Leaders Fellowship is a place-based program. Due to our community-centered model, AYLF Fellows must originate from the locality and currently reside in the region.
